SS Music or Southern Spice Music channel was a popular satellite television channel based in Chennai, India. The multilingual music channel broadcasts film music songs from Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada film industry. The music channel also aired main stream international music from USA, UK, Europe regions. It also promoted independent artist and pop music from south-Asian music Industry. The company was started by Fortune Media PVT LTD the parent company, as a lottery channel to announce lottery results. It slowly migrated towards music content for broadcast as there was plenty of free air time available for programming. In the year 2001 the president of the company was MR.Ramesh Babu. The head of programming Bryan peppin shaped the company to its best, till the year 2008. In 2007 bryan peppin left the company and started his own production house. Since 2007 southern spice music channel, has seen various changes in the management of the company. Over the years it was lead by famous television media experts like G.V Prakash, James dcruz, John Fernandez, Shiran Mather. SS Music is one of the best music channels in south India, which was very famous like MTV India, Channel () India. It was popular among the youth and southern cities of India. In year 2004 the company was approached by MTV India for a taker over, to be branded as MTV south, but the deal went down. Martin lottery the parent company of Southern spice music was under immense pressure as its major revenue market was cut down. Martin lottery since then focused it's business in Sikkim, Bhutan & North Indian markets. The ban of lottery in Tamilnadu did not effect SS Music’s operations. The channel started gaining ground in South Indian television markets since 2004. Media and advertising agencies started to approach the company, to reach larger audience in the southern market. The channel was making good revenues to sustain in the market from its advertising and reality show sponsorship incomes. Since 2004 Santiago Martin has been involved in Tamilnadu politics, he is known to be a donor for election campaigns in Tamilnadu. His involvement with political parties was a clear sign of lobbying for his business interest and influencing political party leaders to remove ban of lottery business in Tamilnadu, India. The lottery ban and bad political influence got Santiago Martin into Illegal lottery selling business, which came into light in the year 2013. He was charged and taken into custody by Tamilnadu Police and later the case was handed over to CBI-India. Due to bad business decisions and management pitfalls the child company of Martin lottery, Southern spice music was shut down. SS Music's broadcast license has been for sale. Over the years, the company has lost its talent pool, who have migrated to different companies for work. Southern spice music television network was very successful in South India over a period of 10 years. It was shut down for financial and litigation problem of its parent company. Southern spice music gave the talent platform for many creative individuals to establish themselves in Indian television market. many talented south Indian musicians, actors and television production personalities started their careers and made it big in Indian television industry through southern spice music, since April 14, 2001. ==About the channels shows and Hosts== Southern spice Music was started in the year 2001 as pure music entertainment channel, with english as their language of communication and the content in multilingual format mainly Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada.
